I haven’t been doing many photographic things lately. But, that’s about to change. This past semester was a doosey, but I have seen the most growth I have ever had with anything in it. I also see the spots that definitely need to be looked at and improved upon. Most of the time I was never satisfied with what I was presenting during the crits. But then my peers would throw me a curve ball and tell me about how “this body of work is my best so far.” That is something you definitely want to hear, but if I don’t see what they are talking about, than it does very little for me as the creator. I’ve sat with the work, I’ve looked at it and I do see some great things happening. I think that in that moment, when you’re forced to present something, in some way it’s never going to be perfect. It’s never going to be the vision you had in your head. But it’s damn close, and in some ways most of the work I did succeeds on levels I never would have even thought about or even knew about.

The point of this post is to say this:

There is more to come. And soon.

I just needed a couple weeks to gather the rest of my life and rest up a little bit. I also needed to pay attention to some aspects of my life that I’ve not been paying as much attention to throughout the school year. Like my family.

Tomorrow I’m going to start mixing chemistry to develop about 10 rolls of black and white film that have been on the back burner for some time now. That slow meditative process usually gets me going and thinking about the things I want to do and how to get those moving.
